NFC equipped, the 3DPPA Smart Pen doubles as a digital name-card / business-card and can be programmed (by yourself) to share information such as your website, phone number, Linkedin profile or contact details with a NFC enabled phone (i.e. any modern smartphone) it comes in contact with.

Making it smart

The 3DPPA Smart Pen can be programed to do different things when it is held near to a NFC enabled mobile phone (most modern phones) with bluetooth enabled, sharing information such as: contact details, phone number, social media profile or even a link to a file (i.e. restaurant menu), however to have a truly valuable experience, we recommend using Unit.Link (free) which provides a landing page for all your information

How to program?

Programming the smart behaviour can be done easily on any NFC enabled phone, using NFC Tools (free). The NFC chip is located beneath the 3DPPA logo on the cap

Instructions

With NFC Tools installed on your phone:

1. Bookmark this page, these steps will erase this link
2. Open NFC Tools
3. Select: Write --> Add a Record
4. Select the type of information you wish your pen to share: Unit.Link, Social Media, Contact, URL, etc.
5. Fill in the necessary information, then press OK (top right)
6. With the record created, press: Write / XX Bytes
7. Succes: Green tick mark will show; a red X otherwise: in which case try again (usually the phone was not aligned properly.

Pen refill

The 3DPPA Pen uses standard Pentel ENERGel 0.7 Metal Tip refills. To replace the refill, it is important to note that the thread on the pen body is reversed: Righty-Loosy & Lefty-Tighty.
